News from the Primary Coordinator

Dear Parents/Guardians and Friends,

I hope all our families have had a positive experience this term, adapting to new teachers, higher expectations, challenges, learning and making /sustaining friendships.

Every age and year level is a defining moment for a young person and their families. Our teachers aim to provide learning opportunities not only based on content but also critical skills – listening, questioning, reasoning and problem solving. Our approach is not simply to rescue children but rather enable them to make better choices.

What better way to celebrate our unity, belonging, inclusiveness and diversity, but to have great Harmony Day and multi-cultural week celebrations. Harmony Day this year was a huge success! Our events committee staff members worked diligently to organise a fantastic week. Students took pride in their efforts, team work, art work and most importantly, showing cohesion and tolerance to one another.

This term, we have had much success bringing the community together during the Twilight Cinema night, which was enjoyed by all. A special thanks also to our SRC staff and students, who have been actively promoting and assisting with events and fundraising efforts.

School Uniform

Sirius College uniform applies to ALL students. By wearing the uniform there are many benefits. Students develop a sense of pride and identification with the College. Please visit the Lost Property if your child is missing uniform. We expect that students provide a NOTE to the class teacher if they cannot attend school in full uniform.

School Holidays

It is imperative for our students to maintain a sensible balance between studying, resting and recreation over the school holiday break. While we do wish for our students to have a commitment to their studies, there is a need to readjust some of the thinking that ‘doing more work produces better outcomes’. We need to remember that too much work, without adequate rest, becomes counter-productive. So allow your child to have a good balance over the break, so they come back with a relaxed mindset ready for Term 2

Stay safe and enjoy the break.
